York University, Toronto, Ontario. Instructed university courses: Introduction to Sociology, Communications and Mass  Media: The Canadian Case. Supervised student research, led tutorials and discussions,  graded papers, facilitated and guided student projects and presentations, advised and counselled students with academic, vocational and personal issues, participated in student evaluations and course planning.

Art Gallery of Ontario, Artist’s Workshop, Hockley Valley School of Art,   Royal Ontario Museum. Instructed sculpture classes and art workshops for adults, adolescents and children. University of Ottawa, Human Rights Research and Education Centre,     Ottawa, Ontario. Instructed proposal writing workshops, project design and fundraising seminars for participants representing social services agencies, environmental and human rights organizations from across Canada. Taught representatives of groups how to communicate with government and private donors to research, develop and implement projects.

Native Women’s Resource Centre, Toronto, Ontario. Coordinated adult literacy program, instructed aboriginal students in academic preparation programs for college and university entrance, assessed literacy levels designed and conducted training sessions for volunteer tutors, assisted economically disadvantaged women with educational advancement programs, literacy and skills development, supervised assistant trainee and college placement students.

James Bay Boards of Education. Conducted visual arts and video workshops for youth in northern aboriginal communities, funded by the Ontario Arts Council and northern Boards of Education. Art produced by students was chosen in national juried competition to represent Canada in an international art exhibition touring Europe entitled ‘All About Us’.   For photos click here.

Toronto Boards of Education. Conducted video production workshops for high school students, instructed research skills, presentation of research topics and various points of view, scriptwriting, directing and editing. Project concerned public health advocacy and environmental issues.   Instructed media projects and visual arts workshops for youth in disadvantaged urban areas.   For photos click here.

North Peace Conservatory of Music, Peace River, Alberta. Instructed flute and piano in rural northern communities on the Alaska and Mackenzie Highways.

Consulting, Research and Writing
Secured over $1,000,000 funding for social and economic development, education, training and cultural programs from Federal and Provincial Governments and various funders including:

Employment and Immigration Canada, Secretary of State, Aboriginal and Northern Affairs Canada, Ministry of Citizenship and Culture, Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ministry of Community and Social Services, Ontario Ministry of Skills Development, Ontario Women’s  Directorate, Urban Rural Mission, Anglican Church of Canada, Canadian Give the Gift of  Literacy Foundation.

For Development, Implementation and Evaluation of Programs in Agencies and Organizations:
Native Women’s Resource Centre. Developed and coordinated adult literacy programs and projects for adult education and educational advancement, produced audio-visual educational resource materials,  researched, developed and and implemented programs and curriculum for job skills training and life skills, developed programs for staff training, support groups, and employment placements for aboriginal students. Wrote, produced and directed ‘Native Language Radio’ Ontario public affairs community radio broadcasts, translated into Cree, Mi’kmaq, Ojibway, Mohawk and English languages, raising awareness about accessing women’s services and programs assisting women.

Aboriginal Women’s Coalition. Wrote proposals and secured funding for seminars, travel for international delegates and  community development projects, strategy meetings, national and international conferences.

Native Canadian Centre. Assisted executive director, reviewed and organized documents related to aboriginal issues, assisted with educational needs studies and projects.
